EXPERIMENTICA is an annual festival of live art based at Chapter Gallery in Cardiff, Wales. The concept for 2017 was Secret Language: class, cool and secret codes; art speak, text speak and slang, etc.

I took part in a residency which took place within the 'These Rotten Words' Exhibition curated by George Vasey. The residency was a collaboration between Foundation Press and some art students from the University of Sunderland. Foundation Press is a platform for experimental publishing activity that initiates print projects in collaboration with art students who act as co-designers and producers. In gallery contexts the press creates workshops which function as live artworks, changing over the course of a set time frame in response to open-ended pedagogical frameworks. For Experimentica, the press had taken as a departure point ‘The Colour Experiment’, a series of workshops ran by artist Tom Hudson at Cardiff School of Art in the late 1960s. Working outwards from documentation of these radical and performative workshops – a series of games, performances and graphic responses will play out within the galleries.
